Ever so slight sub bass focus but not enough to drown out low mids, can have a small impact on mid bass on more recessed tracks. Soundstage in ultimate mode is bigger in width than sp3k (fairly small margins but noticeable)but I don't feel like it's as deep or tall, again, only by a tiny margin.ģ20 with amp 14: Bass is well toned and has a good punch to it, not as elevated as 320 max. I believe this is due to the presentation of the bass and the background not being as dark as I'm unable to hear some notes as clearly, could also be note decay as the 320 typically sounds a little faster. To me, the treble is less extended than the sp3k and not as airy but still excellent. Mids are slightly more recessed sounding vs the sp3k due to the bass elevation but not lacking any detail, more on the analytical side but not dry or boring. Bass is elevated especially in the sub bass but still clear and not bloomy at all, doesn't overpower or drown out mid bass and low mids. Large soundstage in all directions, depth and height are aided hugely by the darkness of the background, width is also excellent.ģ20 max ti (ultimate mode): background isn't nearly as dark as the sp3k but still no background noise or hiss. Treble is airy and extended and very lightly smoothed without any detail or air loss. Mids are clear and very detailed with cu being a touch warmer. Bass is prevalent without being too in your face, to me, balanced across mid and sub bass fairly evenly, CU has slightly more sub bass. This lends itself to iems with fast drivers that can take advantage of it. Sp3k SS and CU: blackest of black backgrounds among all days, by a wide margin, absolutely no noise ever on any iem I have. M9+ is thicker sounding and with more powerful mid bass IMHO (subs are fairly equivalent).Ĭlick to expand. So my 2 cents on a brief comparison of my daps: I concur about the warm and organic yet vivid presentation but to me N8ii is more on the detailed / revealing side of it and less organic than M9+ (I owned N8ii for several months). Thanks for the comparison, just got M9+ and in the process of doing some A/B with RS8 (helped by Oriolus 4.4 switcher there). M9+ is also very powerful, just like RS8 it has superb amplification. Also, with M9+ the Sharona has a bit too much bass and lower mids emphasis despite a high resolution and level of detail it does narrow the stage. But with my more organic and warmer IEMs the picture is not the same, JH Sharona has a much bigger stage with Cayin N7 (this one is something special.) and to a lesser extent with RS8 than M9+. So far my findings is M9+ pairs beautifully with more open sounding and reference IEMs, right now I can tell you nothing small about the stage of M9+ with Vision Ears Elysium. Stage I don't feel closed in but that probably depends which IEMs you use with it. M9+ is thicker sounding and with more powerful mid bass IMHO (subs are fairly equivalent).
